Instagram launches IG Lite on Google Play

Instagram has followed the parent company's footsteps and launched an easy version of the app on Google Play. Like Facebook and Messenger counterparts, Instagram Lite was created for users in developing countries. Since it's only 573 kilobytes instead of 32MB as the main app, even those with older phones or small memory devices at the low end of the price range can use it. The smallest app size also allows people who have access to slow or interrupted internet connection to download from Google Play.

The quietly photocentric social network unveiled the new Lite app on Google Play without much fuss. Perhaps because it is not very available to many people yet - a spokesman told TechCrunch that Instagram has started testing Lite in Mexico this week: "We are testing a new version of Instagram for Android that takes up less space on your device , uses less data and starts faster, "he said in a statement. While the easy-to-use app allows users to upload and view photos and stories, and use the explorer file, still does not have some key features. Users can not share videos through this version, which makes sense because it is specially created for those who may have access to the slow internet connection. The app also has no direct messages, most likely to save the storage space. Instagram may or may not review the lack of these features - it remains to be seen whether the application will launch their hometown to provide US users with an unpopular option like Facebook.
